What is HIE? Electronic health information exchange (HIE) allows doctors, nurses, pharmacists, other health care providers… to appropriately access and securely share a patient’s vital medical information electronically—improving the speed, quality, safety and cost of patient care.

What is C3HIE? C3HIE—a multi-regional Health Information Exchange (HIE)—makes real-time data available to health care providers, thereby providing clinical information that’s more complete for your patients’ care. C3HIE’s “whole community,” non-profit perspective helps you and your staff to send and receive more complete clinical information to better serve your community—more efficiently, securely, and easily. Currently serving over 128 counties, C3HIE is growing quickly across the state of Texas.

In addition, we provide analytics to other provider organizations across the United States. C3HIE provides analytics and quality data for physician practices participating in value-based insurance contracts. Link to lifestyle medicine project… (Phil)

Who are the C3HIE Stakeholders? As a non-profit 501(c)3 our stakeholders make up our board and also include everyone from health systems, private physician groups, rural hospitals, FQHCs, payers, public health, and other quality organizations.

C3HIE shares medical record information with healthcare providers for payment, treatment and other healthcare operations as defined under HIPAA, 45 CFR 164.506, Uses and Disclosures for Treatment, Payment, and Health Care Operations | HHS.gov.
